I was amazed at the auctions for Apple version 1 computers. I came to the game late and my first Apple before the first generation MacIntosh which was the Apple IIc for about $1500 and similar to today's computer prices although not inflation adjusted. My first Mac was purchased through a discount for students at Michigan State University. The price was $4800 for the computer, a printer, a 10 MB McBottom hard drive and Microsoft Excel. Crazy money, but the remarkable thing was when it started to become outdated I was still able to resell it for around $3K.
